Lexus LS600h L

The Lexus LS600h L is Toyota's most powerful and most expensive luxury hybrid vehicle to date. The Lexus LS600h L is set to take on both BMW and Mercedes in the luxury car market, yet appeal to those who love green around them as well as in their wallets.

Selling for anywhere from $80,000 to $124,000, the Lexus LS600h L is able to achieve 28.7 mpg while accelerating from 0 - 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.

 

The Toyota Lexus LS600h L carries a 5-liter V8 engine, electric motor and all wheel drive with plenty of power at 438 hp. There is also a longer wheelbase version called the Lexus LS600h Ll. Toyota has stated that the Lexus LS600h L has half the emissions of a standard 6-liter engine.

The 2008 Lexus LS600h L will begin selling in Japan before expanding worldwide to 37 different countries. Toyota expects to sell 7,000 of these hybrid luxury vehicles this year with increased sales next year as the car is adopted by many. By comparison, Toyota expects to sell 500,000 of its standard Lexus in 2007 or about a third of BMW sales.

Luxury cars would not be luxury cars without plenty of features and the Lexus LS600h L has a few notable ones worth getting excited about. The Lexus LS600h L has a safety feature that will alert a distracted driver of an accident waiting to happen. In addition, the Lexus LS600h L will also parallel park itself if so desired by the driver.

The Lexus LS600h L will also warn the driver if he or she is falling asleep at the wheel. Headlights in the Lexus LS600h L will also turn with the curves on the road for better illumination.

Probably the most exciting feature of the Lexus LS600h L, though is one that has nothing to do with the driver of the vehicle. As an option on this hybrid, those sitting in the back seat may be treated to a massage as they are traveling. Long road trips will never again be a pain for those in the back.

Toyota balks at those who say that hybrids are "transitional technology" only to be used as a segue before other kinds of vehicles come along.
