Council
on Environmental Quality - focused on building on
America 's ethic of stewardship and personal responsibility
through education and volunteer opportunities, and in our daily
lives. Encouraging innovation and the development of new, cleaner
technologies. Opportunities for environmental improvements are
not limited to Federal government actions – States, tribes,
local communities, and individuals must be included.
National
Environmental Methods Index (NEMI) - is being
developed under the direction of the Methods and Data Comparability
Board , a partnership of water-quality experts from Federal
agencies, States, Tribes, municipalities, industry, and
private organizations. The Methods Board is chartered under
the National Water Quality Monitoring Council , whose mission
since its charter in May 1997 is to coordinate and provide
guidance on implementation of the voluntary, integrated,
nationwide monitoring strategy.

of Federal Environmental Executive - promoting
sustainable environmental stewardship throughout the federal
government. They define sustainable environmental stewardship
to include those concepts, strategies, tools, practices,
and approaches that lead to environmental improvement in
a manner that is sustainable over time, considers the long
term effects as well as the shorter term, more immediate
effects, and that contributes positively, even if indirectly,
to the social and economic condition.

superior energy efficiency. Provides an innovative energy
performance rating system which businesses have already
used for more than 21,000 buildings across the country.
Lawrence
Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) - has
been a leader in science and engineering research for more than
70 years. Located on a 200 acre site in the hills above the
University of California's Berkeley campus, adjacent to the
