Toyota also expects to become the number
2 automaker in the U. S. in early 2007 ahead of Ford but
behind General Motors. Toyota has the best selling car
in the U. S., the Camry and the best-selling hybrid, the
Prius.
Toyota employs 39,000 workers in North America as compared
to General Motors, which employs 141,000. Toyota has
announced that it will build 9.4 million vehicles worldwide
in 2007. General Motors does not give out its vehicle
sales statistics, but experts estimate the number will
be around 9.2 million.
